Last week, my wife and I began searching for a gazebo, the tent type, we found many that looked good, but unfortunately, not exactly what we wanted.
So a few days ago we had a look in the shed at the wood we had available. Much of the wood was already warped and cracked from age and possibly dampness, but we decided to use it anyway to build a pergola. So off we went to the store to buy some 20cm screws and a few other required items. Then we got started.
First we laid out our wood, measured and cut the wood into the lengths that we needed.
Then we put the front frame together followed by the rear supports.
Next we needed to bury and concrete the legs into place, we then placed the top beams across, aligned and fixed them in place.
Night fell, but things started to look good.
We just had that final touch left to add and the end result looked great. There were a few challenges, but in the end we had what we wanted.
This is not the end, more to be done, including a cover, curtains, nets, hanging lights, table+chairs etc.... but so far I am happy with the result. Let me know what you think of our pergola and if you have any suggestions.
